History
A Brief History of Tainan Municipal Jia-Sing Junior High School
The Founding Era
At the onset of the Nine-Year National Education program, Jiali Junior High School saw a rapid surge in its student population, leading to overcrowding. Furthermore, the remote location of the Jia-Sing and Zilong school districts made the commute difficult and hazardous, with frequent traffic safety concerns. To ensure student safety and convenience, local education enthusiasts proposed the establishment of a Jia-Sing branch.
On December 18, 1972, the "Jia-Sing Junior High School Preparatory Committee" was formally established. Through the dedicated efforts of Mr. Tsai Shun-chih (Chairman of the Town Council), Mayor Yang Chia-hsing, Principal Huang Lai-fu, Mr. Hsu Liao-yun, and various village representatives, the Jia-Sing Branch of Jiali Junior High School was officially approved on October 11, 1973. In August 1974, the branch admitted five freshman classes, initially holding lessons at Jia-Sing Elementary School under the leadership of Branch Director Mr. Wang Zhen-yan and the first Parent Association President, Mr. Lin Zong-qing.
Construction and Independence
In January 1975, after overcoming numerous obstacles, a campus site of over two hectares was acquired. The construction required NT$1.2 million; while the Town Hall subsidized NT$500,000, the remainder was raised through the generous donations of parents and local community leaders.
Construction began in May 1975 and, despite delays due to the rainy season, was completed in January 1976. On January 28 of that year, students officially moved into the new campus. Under the leadership of the second Parent Association President, Mr. Hsu Nei, and through further donations from the Farmers' Association and local benefactors, the school’s facilities were significantly enhanced. In August 1979, the school was granted independent status as Tainan County Jia-Sing Junior High School, with Mr. Hsu Hsien-nan appointed as the first Principal. Over his tenure of 11 years and six months, Principal Hsu laid a solid foundation for the school, contributing immensely to the campus environment, student character development, and the school’s reputation.
